What is a Maestro Card?

This card has the Maestro logo and can be accepted at over 1,000,000 ATMs within the Cirrus®/Maestro® network, or at merchant locations that accept PIN-based transactions. This is a prepaid card that carries no credit line, and can be used with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for PIN-debit transactions. The amount available for PIN-debit purchases is only equal to the amount pre-funded to the card.

What is a Prepaid MasterCard?

This is a prepaid card that comes with the MasterCard brand and can be accepted at over 1,000,000 ATMs within the Cirrus/ Maestro/MasterCard network or at merchant locations that accept PIN-based transactions. It can also be used at any merchant that accepts debit MasterCard transactions. This is a prepaid card that carries no credit line and can be used with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for PIN-debit transactions, or has the added benefit of functioning as a signature-based card that can be used without a PIN. Although it shares many of the benefits, it is not a credit card. The amount available for PIN-debit and signature-based purchases is only equal to the amount pre-funded to the card.

Are these credit cards?

No, these cards are not credit cards. They are prepaid cards. The cards carry only the balance that you have pre-funded to the card, plus any Overdraft Program access that may be available to you.

What is my credit line?

We do not give a line of credit. Prepaid cards provide you access to money pre-funded to the card. That means if you load $1,500 onto your card, you can spend $1,500 (including fees).

Can I have two names on the account?

No, the cards are issued in only one individual's name.

What if I lost my card?

If the appropriate actions are taken, you are protected if your card is lost or stolen and if someone uses your card fraudulently. If your card is lost or stolen, call the Customer Service Department at the number which is located on the back of your card and in your Cardholder Agreement immediately! Our Customer Service Representatives are available from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Monday-Friday and 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, Saturday and Sunday. We will stop access to your account, and cancel your PIN number right away. Upon your request, we will issue a new card and transfer any remaining balance to the new card. A card replacement fee will be deducted from your account. If you report a theft or unauthorized use of your card (as it appears on your statement) immediately, your liability is limited by federal regulations to $0.00. If you do not report the loss within 48 hours of the event, you could be liable for the full amount the unauthorized user was able to withdraw/charge.

What are the benefits of using the card?

The most important benefit of your card is convenience. You may use your card to make purchases and get cash from over 1,000,000 ATMs worldwide. The possibilities are endless!

Why should I carry the card instead of cash?

The cards provide individuals with a safe alternative to carrying cash. It helps protect your money and provides you with conveniences of the MasterCard and Maestro brands. As a member, you will have the opportunity to receive benefits and rewards, while feeling confident that your money is protected and your information is secure.

How do I cancel my card?

You can cancel your card by calling the Customer Service number which is located on the back of your card and in your Cardholder Agreement. Our automated system will allow you to close your card in a matter of seconds. Please note that once an account has been cancelled, you cannot reactivate it. A new account will be created and new cards will be issued if another card is needed.

How do I change the name on my card?

To change the name on your card, you should call the Customer Service Department at the number which is located on the back of your card and in your Cardholder Agreement.

Will there ever be a time when my card will not work?

The only time your card may not work is if the banking system (ATM for example) you are trying to access is not available for operation. If the system is up and running and you have funds in your account, they will be available to you.

What do I do if I do not receive my PIN number?

If you do not receive your PIN within 7-10 business days after receiving your card, please contact the Customer Service number located on the back of your card and in your Cardholder Agreement to have the information mailed to you again.

My name is spelled wrong on my card. What do I do?

If your name is misspelled on your card, please contact the Customer Service number which is located on the back of your card and in your Cardholder Agreement.

Can I use the card as a savings program?

Yes, if you already have your wages deposited to a checking or savings account, you can have a portion of your pay amount taken from your payroll each pay period and loaded to your card for future use. This is contingent upon your employer's willingness to allow this and requires a direct deposit program.

Is the activity on my card reported to credit bureaus?

No, there is no credit reporting associated with these cards as no credit is extended.

When do I receive my statement?

Online account information can be accessed at any time. Some transactions are updated immediately on the site and some post each evening. If a paper statement is elected, this will be mailed by the middle of the following month. For example, December's statement would be mailed by the middle of January. Paper statements are optional and may carry a fee of up to $2.00 per statement. Please refer to your Cardholder Agreement for details.

How soon does my activity post to my account?

PIN-based transactions post to your account the night the transaction is received. Signature-based transactions post to your account the day Axcess America receives the settlement record from MasterCard. Prior to posting to your account, the amount of the transaction is deducted only from your available balance. During posting, the amount of the transaction received in settlement goes to your posted end of day balance.
