As with any other card, it is important that you remember a few key tips to keep your Axcess America® Prepaid MasterCard® and money safe and secure. Most importantly, if you believe that your card has been compromised in any way, immediately call Customer Service at 1-866-351-9616.
Report a Lost/Stolen Card Immediately
If your card has been lost or stolen, call our Customer Service Department at 1-866-351-9616 immediately to report the incident.
Customer Service will put the card on the 'stop list' so it can no longer be used.
If you report a theft or unauthorized use of your card (as it appears on your statement) immediately, your liability is limited by federal regulations to $0.00. If you do not report the loss within 48 hours of the event, you could be liable for the full amount the unauthorized user was able to withdraw/charge.
Our Customer Service Representatives are available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Eastern Standard Time, Monday - Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. We will stop access to your account, and cancel your PIN number right away. Upon your request, we will issue a new card and transfer any remaining balance to the new card. A card replacement fee will be deducted from your account.
Your PIN is a 4-digit number that allows you to use your card to make purchases and withdraw cash at ATMs. It's like a key to a door. Just like you wouldn't give away the key to your house, don't tell anyone your PIN.
No one from Axcess America will ever call you and ask for your PIN number. Memorize it and keep it safe.
Identity theft is on the rise. Axcess America encourages all of our cardholders to take steps to protect themselves. This crime occurs when someone takes and uses another person's personal data, such as their name, Social Security number, credit card number, or other identifying information, in a way that involves fraud or deception.
The following resources will help you learn more about Identity Theft and how to protect yourself from it.
Here's a few suggestions to help you avoid becoming a victim of identity theft:
Be careful with your Axcess America Card receipts. Sometimes, they have your full account number and expiration date on them. If they do, keep them stored in a safe place or destroy them. Don't keep them in your wallet or purse.
Watch your Axcess America Card statements online. Log in a few times a month to keep an eye out for suspicious transactions.
If you shop online with your Axcess America Prepaid MasterCard , make sure that your transaction is secure. Look for the padlock symbol on the bottom of your Web browser and make sure the Web address starts with https://, not http://.
Never click on a link or respond to any emails that ask you for personal financial information such as a credit card number, even if the email looks like it comes from a site you buy from regularly. They already have your information; they wouldn't need to request it in an email. One of the most common ways for identity theft to occur online is through unsolicited emails requesting your financial information.
Protect your computer from spyware and other hacking tools. This has become a major problem over the last year. If you have pop-ups all over your computer when you're online, download and install free programs such as Adaware or Microsoft's new security program, AntiSpyware.
Use your Axcess America Prepaid MasterCard and pay your bills online or over the phone instead of mailing them in the old fashioned way. Most companies will give you a confirmation number and you can easily verify the transaction by reviewing your statement online.
Never provide your personal or financial information to anyone who calls you on the telephone unsolicited. Axcess America will never call you to ask for your personal information.
Unfortunately, thieves can target cardholders while they use ATMs. They can also look over your shoulder as you perform a transaction in an attempt to obtain your card and/or PIN number. Below are some easy ways to safeguard you, your card, and your money:
Have everything ready and your card in hand before you use an ATM.
Be careful when entering your PIN. Block the screen and keyboard so anyone waiting to use the machine cannot see you enter your PIN or how much money you are withdrawing.
Immediately put your cash, card, and receipt away. Count your money later and always keep your receipt.
